A group of 120 nurses, nursing students and nurse champions gathered in Shreveport on Sept. 26 to discuss the future of nursing in north Louisiana. At a forum hosted by the Louisiana Action Coalition and the Northwestern State University School of Nursing, participants heard about the national initiative The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action and what Louisiana and other states are doing to strengthen the nursing profession to advance health and health care. Breakout groups discussed the issues of nurse leadership, nurse education and nursing practice relative to their region of the state.
